A man and woman have been injured and their dog has died following a shooting in the Pollok area of Glasgow.

The attack happened in Haughburn Road at about 2030 BST on Tuesday.

The 48-year-old man, who is understood to have been shot in the chest and stomach, is in a "serious but stable" condition in hospital.

The 36-year-old woman received treatment for minor injuries. Police said they were treating the attack as attempted murder.

Det Insp Scott McMillan, of Strathclyde Police, said: "I would appeal to anyone, who may have been in the area of Haughburn Road, around 2030 hours last night, who may have witnessed the incident to contact me.

"I am particularly interested in a silver BMW motor vehicle which we believe was involved at Haughburn Road and later recovered on fire in Swinton Place, Cardonald.

"Anyone who saw this vehicle in either of these areas should contact me."
