A murder probe has been launched after the death of a 25-year-old man in the Royston area of Glasgow.

Strathclyde Police said David Donnachie was walking with a group of friends in Kilberry Street at about 0015 BST.

They were involved in an altercation with three other males, who were said to be aged in their late teens or twenties.

Mr Donnachie, who lived locally, received serious injuries and died later in hospital.

A 17-year-old friend of Mr Donnachie was also treated at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and has since been released.

Det Ch Insp Anne McKerchar said the investigation was at an "early stage", and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
