Biker critically injured in crash

A 28-year-old biker has been critically injured in a crash on the A78 near the Ayrshire village of Skelmorlie.

A 47-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Lacetti northbound when it collided with a Skyjet motorbike at about 1625 BST on Wednesday.

The motorcyclist was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital in Greenock where he is being treated for serious head injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet and his three passengers were uninjured.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
