Indecent assault in city centre

Police patrol
Police said the woman had been traumatised by her ordeal

Police are appealing for help after a woman was indecently assaulted in Glasgow city centre at the weekend.

The 33-year-old was attacked at about 0400 BST on Saturday in Bothwell Lane after meeting a man in Waterloo Street.

The man ran off into Bothwell Street and was chased by two pub stewards before getting into a hackney cab in Gordon Street.

He is described as mixed race, between 25 and 30, with an athletic build and wearing a beige jacket and blue jeans.

Det Insp Andy McWilliam, of Strathclyde Police, said: "This was a very frightening experience for the woman.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the man and the woman walking in Waterloo Street or turning into Bothwell Lane or the man running towards Gordon Street after the assault to come forward.

"I would also appeal to the stewards, who ran after the man in Bothwell Street, to contact the police. They may be able to provide vital information to the investigation."
