Car ramming was attempted murder

A police sign
Police says it appears the car crash was deliberate

Strathclyde Police are investigating an attempted murder in the Maryhill area of Glasgow.

Police said the incident happened about 1415 BST on Saturday when a light grey-coloured VW Golf was reversing up Kelvindale Road.

Officers said it appeared that a black Mitsubishi Shogun drove at the Golf and crashed into it.

The 29-year-old victim in the Golf was not seriously injured but police are treating it as attempted murder.

The Shogun then made off towards Maryhill Road.

Detective Constable Brian Gribbons from Maryhill CID said: "Fortunately the victim was not seriously injured but it could have been much worse.

"This area is a particularly busy thoroughfare with plenty of people milling around and a lot of vehicular traffic.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to contact us as a matter of urgency. Any information, however insignificant, could be important in our investigation."
