A Scottish man has drowned in front of his wife while swimming off a popular beach on the Spanish island of Majorca.

Gordon Hamilton, 69, from Barrhead, East Renfrewshire, got into difficulty at Cas Catala, near Palma, at about 0700 BST on Monday.

He was pulled from the water by an ambulance crew and local police but they were unable to revive him.
