Man tries to abduct boy aged 10

A 10-year-old boy escaped unharmed when a man tried to abduct him in a street in Glasgow.

Police said the youngster was with a group of boys in Old Rutherglen Road on Thursday evening when they were approached by the man.

He got out his car and tried to talk to the boy before trying to force him into the vehicle. The child broke free and managed to alert his mother.

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage of the area and carrying out inquiries.

The suspect is described as Asian, in his 40s, approximately 5ft 7in tall, of thin build, clean shaven, and was wearing black clothing.

Sgt Susan Galbraith said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the young boy to go through and it is being treated very seriously.

"Fortunately, he did the right thing by immediately running home and alerting his mum and thankfully he was unharmed."
