Police plea over indecent assault

Police are to carry out door-to-door inquiries and checking CCTV

Police are appealing for help after a woman was indecently assaulted and robbed in the east end of Glasgow.

The 22-year-old attacked in Alexandra Court, Dennistoun, at about 2245 BST on Saturday. The man who carried out the assault then stole her mobile phone.

It is believed he ran off after seeing another man walking a dog.

The suspect was white, about 5ft 5in tall, 15 or 16 years old, with short blonde hair. He was wearing a cream hooded jacket with matching trousers.

The suspect approached the woman from behind, punched her and then carried out the indecent assault when she was lying on the ground.

'Terrible attack'

Det Con Cameron MacLean, of Strathclyde Police, said officers would be carrying out door-to-door inquiries and checking CCTV.

"This was an extremely frightening experience for the young woman. The assault was completely unprovoked," he said.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything to get in touch.

"We would really like to speak to the man who was out walking his dog at the time of the assault as he may be able to provide further information which would assist us in tracing the young man responsible for this terrible attack."
