City museum displays The Scream

The Scream
The Scream will return to the Munch Museum in Norway after the exhibition

One of the world's best known artworks - The Scream by Edvard Munch - is to go on display in Glasgow on Friday.

The black and white lithograph is one of 40 of his works which will be on show at the Huntarian Art Gallery until 5 September.

This is the last time the print will be seen outside the Munch Museum in the Norwegian capital, Oslo.

The exhibition will be the most substantial display of Munch's prints in the UK in over 35 years.

The works on display have been chosen from throughout the artist's career and cover all the printmaking techniques he used.

Munch is considered to be Norway's greatest artist and was a major influence in the modern expressionist movement.

He died in 1944 at the age of 80.
