Hit and run linked to disturbance

Police investigating an hit and run in Barrhead at the weekend have linked it to an earlier disturbance in the area on the same evening.

An 18-year-old man suffered severe injuries after he was hit by a car as he walked with six friends in Paisley Road at about 2210 BST on Saturday.

Detectives said the were treating the incident as attempted murder.

They said it may be linked to an earlier disturbance between some youths and occupants of a Vauxhall Corsa.

The car involved in the hit and run was a black Vauxhall Corsa.

Det Con Neil Campbell of Pollok CID said: "It would appear that some sort of disturbance occurred around 2140 BST on Saturday in Grahamston Road.

"We cannot rule out the possibility that the attack at 2210 BST involved the same individuals.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw either of these incidents, or has any information regarding who was involved, to come forward.

He added: "I would particularly like to speak to anyone who was in the black Vauxhall Corsa in Grahamston Road."
