Suspicious package found in road

Bomb disposal experts have removed a suspicious package found in a cul-de-sac in Glasgow.

Police were called out to Lochview Gardens, Hogganfield, at about 0935 BST and sealed off the road.

About 20 residents were evacuated from the area while the package was examined by Explosives Ordnance Disposal.

A Strathclyde Police spokesman said a controlled explosion was not carried out and the package was taken away for examination.

Cumbernauld Road was closed between Royston Road and Provanmill Road.

The spokesman said the incident was being treated seriously.
