Man arrested after bodies found

Holly Fallon, 10, and her mother Diane went missing 11 days ago

The bodies of a woman and a young girl, believed to be that of missing Diane Fallon and her daughter Holly, 10, have been found in Ayrshire.

Strathclyde Police confirmed that the bodies were found in the Cumnock area on Wednesday afternoon.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deaths and is expected to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Thursday.

The 43-year-old and her daughter had been missing for 11 days.

The pair were last seen at their home in Cronberry, near Cumnock, at about 2300 BST on Saturday, 28 March.

Holly's schoolteacher raised the alarm on Tuesday, 31 March, after she failed to turn up for classes.

An extensive search has been ongoing for the pair.

Although formal identification has yet to take place, police said they believed the bodies were those of Diane and Holly.

Post-mortem examinations will be held to establish the exact cause of deaths and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
