Police have said they are concerned for the welfare of a mother and her 10-year-old daughter who have been missing for five days.

Diane Fallon, 43, and her daughter Holly were last seen at their home in Cronberry, near Cumnock, East Ayrshire, at about 1930 GMT on Saturday.

Police were alerted by Holly's school when she did not attend on Tuesday.

Supt Douglas Robertson has appealed for anyone with information to contact Cumnock police office.

He said Ms Fallon was known to frequent the areas of Auchinleck and Cumnock. She is described as being of thin build, 5ft 5in, with short, straight, brown hair. She was last seen wearing a cream knitted cardigan and light-coloured jeans.

Her daughter Holly is of slim build with long brown hair and green eyes. She was last seen wearing dark blue skinny jeans and a dark purple, padded jacket with a fur-lined hood.
