The bomb was found wedged in the structure of the pier

Army explosives experts have made safe an unexploded torpedo found buried beneath the pier at Largs in Ayrshire.

The old army ordnance device was found on Monday afternoon by divers working within the water at Largs promenade.

A security cordon was immediately thrown around the scene and a controlled explosion was carried out on the torpedo at about 2300 GMT.
