Police recovered the stolen car in the Carnbroe area on Thursday

Police in Coatbridge are hunting a gang of teenagers who attacked a man and stole his car.

The 25-year-old victim was dropping a friend off in Southfield Crescent when he was dragged from his vehicle and assaulted by four youths.

They then drove off in his blue Fiat Punto, which was later recovered by police in the Carnbroe area.

The man suffered minor injuries but was left shaken by the attack, which took place at about 2330 GMT on Wednesday.

The suspects were aged between 14 and 18. Three of them were wearing light coloured hooded tops and one was wearing a blue outdoor jacket.

Det Con Brendan Docherty said: "This was a particularly traumatic ordeal for the man involved.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in Southfield Crescent at the time of the incident, or who may have seen the car being abandoned in the Carnbroe area of Coatbridge, to get in touch."
