Maradona rewards eagle-eyed boy

Ball boy bags Maradona's hat and mitts

A 13-year-old Cumbernauld boy had a night to remember at a training session involving the Argentina national team at Celtic Park.

As the players were being put through their paces it emerged that midfielder Fernando Gago had lost a gold necklace.

Adam Brown and other ball boys combed the pitch in the hunt for the medallion before he spotted it in the grass.

Team coach Diego Maradona lifted the youngster into the air and presented him with his gloves, hat and a shirt.

The football icon told Adam: "You're my friend now."

Adam, a winger with Celtic's under-14s team, said: "I found a gold medallion with a face on it.

"Maradona's a legend so when he lifted me up, it was brilliant."

Argentina were training for Wednesday's friendly against Scotland at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
