Town's burst water main repaired

Tap water
Supplies were disrupted to about 6,000 homes and businesses

A burst water main which cut supplies to about 6,000 homes and businesses in Helensburgh has been repaired.

A Scottish Water spokesman said it had worked "continuously since the burst on the pipe occurred on Monday".

"Teams of engineers worked round the clock in very poor ground conditions," the spokesman said.

"This made the repair work very difficult but we did everything we could to complete the repair as quickly as possible."

He added that normal water supplies would be restored during the evening.

Some customers may experience temporary discolouration when their water is restored but this will run clear in time, the spokesman said.
