Man held over death of teenager

Michelle Stewart died from her injuries at Ayr Hospital

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and is in police custody following the death of a teenage girl in Drongan, East Ayrshire.

Michelle Stewart, 17, was found with injuries in Mill O' Shield Road, at about 1835 GMT on Friday.

She was taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital where she died a short time later.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal. The man is expected to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday.
