Man stabs woman in street attack

A woman is in a stable condition in hospital after being stabbed during a street attack in Inverclyde.

The 35-year-old was set upon by a man and woman after being approached in Gallahill Avenue, Port Glasgow, at about 1350 GMT on Wednesday.

They kicked and punched her before the man pulled out a knife and stabbed her.

The woman is in a stable condition in Inverclyde Royal Hospital. Police are treating the attack as attempted murder and have appealed for witnesses.

The male suspect is described as white, of medium height and build, in his 20s to 30s, with short dark hair. He was wearing a white top.

The female suspect is described as white, short, of heavy build, with long fair hair.
