Italy skull linked to Scots death

Amalfi coast
The retired teacher died while walking in the Lattari mountains

Police in Italy believe they have found the skull of a Scot who died while on holiday in Amalfi five years ago.

Robert Tyack, a 60-year-old retired teacher from Coatbridge, disappeared while walking in the Lattari mountains in June 2003.

His body was discovered six months later and returned to the family in Scotland for burial.

Police in Amalfi said they are now carrying out forensic tests on a skull found on Monday in the same area.

Mr Tyack went missing after telling his wife he was off for a walk in the hills.

When he failed to return she raised the alarm but searchers could only find his rucksack.

Police said a teenager out walking on Monday discovered the skull.
