Second charge over Lennon attack

A second man has appeared in court charged with attacking Celtic coach Neil Lennon.

Jeffrey Carrigan, 43, of Knightswood, Glasgow, is accused of assaulting the 37-year-old to his severe injury at Ashton Lane, Glasgow, on 1 September.

The attack is alleged to have been aggravated by religious prejudice.

Carrigan appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

David Whitelaw, 43, also appeared at the end of last month in connection with the incident which took place just hours after an Old Firm game.
