High school gets £3m science wing

The science wing includes six new laboratories

Glasgow's Lord Provost is due to officially open a £3m science wing at an independent secondary school.

The extension to the High School of Glasgow includes six new science laboratories, three physics labs, technician areas and a green house.

It also contains three dedicated sixth year laboratories, a home economics area and modern language classrooms.

Money for the building was raised by former pupils, parents, the governing body and friends of the school.

A spokesman for the fee paying school on Glasgow's Crow Road said the project, which began in June last year and was completed in August, demonstrated the school's commitment to science.

"This extension is another example of the school's commitment to improving its education facilities for all its pupils," he said.

"It is a significant move forward in the teaching of the three main science subjects."
