Subway mobile use 'months away'

Phone on the subway
Passengers will be able to use their mobile phones on the subway

Some passengers on Glasgow's subway system will have limited use of their mobile phones from December.

The operator, O2, has signed a deal to install services in five stations - Buchanan Street, St Enoch, Kelvinbridge, Hillhead and Partick.

It will give customers access to voice, text, video and internet services

The contract is part of wider moves by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport to provide a combined cellular and wi-fi network at all 15 stations.
