A man has been arrested after a body was found in a Glasgow street following a disturbance, police have said.

Scott McAusland was discovered by a member of the public in Craigie Street, near Allison Street, in the city's Govanhill area at 0035 BST on Thursday.

The 48-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 55-year-old man has been detained in custody in connection with the death. He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court later.

Strathclyde Police launched a murder hunt following a post-mortem.

Officers sealed off surrounding streets, carried out door-to-door inquiries and trawled through CCTV footage from the area.

Det Insp Ian Rule, leading the investigation, said: "What we do know at this time is that a disturbance occurred shortly after midnight in Craigie Street at Allison Street.

"We believe this is how the victim has sustained the fatal injuries."
