Det Insp Simon Midgley said officers were studying CCTV footage

A man who was seriously assaulted in the Maryhill area of Glasgow on Sunday has died from his injuries.

Jason McMenamin, 31, of Wyndford Road, Maryhill, was attacked with an iron bar as he made his way along Ruchill Street with his brother at about 1330 BST.

Police are treating his death as murder and have appealed for information.

They are looking for two men who made off in a small white van. The suspects are described as being in their 30s, about 6ft tall with short dark hair.

Mr McMenamin was treated in Stobhill Hospital after suffering serious head injuries during the attack.

Police said he died on Monday night. A post-mortem examination will take place to establish the exact cause of death.

Det Insp Simon Midgley, of Strathclyde Police, said: "As the attack took place in broad daylight, it would have been witnessed by anyone who was in the Ruchill Street area at that time.

"Officers are continuing to study CCTV footage and speak to local residents in an effort to gain more information on this incident.

"I would like to re-appeal for any witnesses to come forward, or urge anyone who saw a white van travelling at high speed towards Maryhill Road around the time of the attack, to contact police."
