The father of two young brothers who were found dead in a car in East Dunbartonshire has appeared in court.

Ashok Kalyanjee was charged with stabbing and murdering Paul Ross, six, and his brother Jay, who was two.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, the 46-year-old made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

The children, who lived in Royston in the north of Glasgow, were discovered in a layby at a beauty spot in the Campsie Fells near Lennoxtown in May.

Mr Kalyanjee was taken to hospital a short time after the boys' bodies were found.

He was arrested by police after being released on Tuesday.
