Woman arrested over fatal crash

Police said the car had been found submerged in water

A woman has been arrested over a hit-and-run death in Paisley earlier this week, police have confirmed.

Margaret Borris, 39, was run down while walking with her son in the town on Monday.

Strathclyde Police are also due to drag a car, thought to have been involved in the incident, from the Kirklee town reservoir for forensic examination.

A 45-year-old woman is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court later on Thursday.

Police said a Volkswagen Polo, matching witness descriptions, was found submerged in water near Beith on Wednesday.

Mrs Borris died in the Royal Alexandra Hospital a short time after being knocked down while walking on King Street with her 20-year-old son.

The mother-of-three was originally from the Paisley area but had moved to Ayrshire with her three children.
