Diver receives bends treatment

The man was diving off the coast at Largs when he was stung by a jellyfish

A diver required treatment for decompression sickness after getting into difficulty off the Ayrshire coast.

It is thought the 49-year-old conducted a rapid ascent after being stung by a jellyfish near Largs.

A boat, which was called to take him for treatment at Millport, then broke down with engine failure.

The coastguard said his transfer was eventually completed and he received treatment for both the bends and the sting.
