Cyclists begin charity pig pull

The pair hope to complete the challenge in three weeks

Two cyclists plan to pull a 40-kilo carbon fibre pig from Glasgow to London in a bid to raise £60,000 for charity.

Gordon McKirdy, 33, who is originally from Bearsden in Glasgow, and Steve Hunt, 46, from Chippenham, Wiltshire, hope to pedal 40 miles every day.

They leave from Glasgow's George Square on Sunday and aim to reach Richmond Park in London on 27 July.

The men will collect money from more then 50 towns and cities along the way. All proceeds go to Cancer Research UK.

The pair have already raised £87,000 for the charity through marathon running.

Mr McKirdy said: "Everyone is touched by cancer at some point so we all have a responsibility to do something to help. This is our way of doing it."
