Six years for video store robber

A video store robber who left his fingerprints on a PlayStation 3 console has been jailed for six years at the High Court in Glasgow.

Ian Kirkland, 30, escaped with £120 from Blockbuster Video, Renfrew, after threatening the manager with a knife on 28 January.

Police later identified the prints on the games box as Kirkland's.

The court heard that he had a previous conviction for robbery and 21 for theft and housebreaking.

Judge Lord Brailsford said he would have jailed Kirkland for nine years, but for his guilty plea.

He told him: "This is shocking behaviour that you should be ashamed of."
