Free buses for Ibrox Uefa showing

Fans will be able to use free buses between Glasgow and Ibrox

Buses are being laid on free of charge for Rangers fans travelling to Ibrox to watch the Uefa Cup final.

Thousands are expected at the stadium on Wednesday night to watch the game live from Manchester on big screens.

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) will run free buses from Buchanan Bus Station to Edmiston Drive between 1730 and 1930 BST.

Entry to the stadium and seats on the buses will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

The game between Rangers and Zenit St Petersburg is the Ibrox club's first European final in 36 years and has sparked huge interest from fans.

Chair of SPT, Councillor Alistair Watson said: "It's a great opportunity for Scottish football and will be an exciting night for Rangers fans.

"Many of them will be able to watch the match at Ibrox and we're more than happy to provide transport to help them get there.

"This follows a successful venture last year when around 8,000 fans used SPT's free buses to get to the UEFA Cup Final at Hampden.

"We want to encourage more people to use public transport so rather than taking the car, we hope fans will use these bus services or the SPT Subway on their way to watch the big match."
