City buses in head-on collision

Scene of the crash
Ambulance staff treated two people at the scene

Several people have been treated in hospital after two buses collided head on in the west end of Glasgow.

Police were called to Church Street at 0720 BST and found one driver trapped and semi-conscious, while some passengers had minor injuries.

Firefighters freed the driver and he was taken to the Western Infirmary, directly across from the crash site.

His injuries were not life-threatening. Some passengers made their own way over to the hospital. The street was closed.

The buses, one single and one double decker, were both in service at the time of the crash.

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue used specialist equipment to free the driver of the double-decker bus from his cab.

Ambulance staff treated two people, including the driver, at the scene.

A spokesman said the casualties had minor injuries.

Strathclyde Police is investigating the cause of the crash.
