The brother of a man murdered in Blantyre last month is in a stable condition in hospital after being attacked.

Steven McQueen, 23, was admitted to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride on Friday evening.

A 32-year-old man appeared at Hamilton Sheriff court on Monday in relation to the incident.

Police said the investigation into the murder of his brother, Brian McQueen, on 13 February was continuing.

Mr McQueen, 37, from Springwell Crescent, Blantyre, died from serious head injuries in Hairmyres Hospital after what police described as a "frenzied attack".

Strathclyde Police were trying to locate a stolen car believed to have been driven by his attackers.

Officers have stopped and questioned 100 motorists and pedestrians close to the crime scene at Hardie Street, Blantyre.

Anyone with information about the car, believed to be a black Ford Focus, has been urged to contact Strathclyde Police or Crimestoppers.
