Gourock hotel fire
The fire ripped through the building in the early hours
Fire has badly damaged a derelict hotel in Inverclyde in the early hours.

Firefighters were called at 0300 GMT to the blaze at the three-storey former Jarvis hotel on Cloch Road, Gourock, which overlooks the Clyde.

At its height about 45 firefighters tackled the blaze. Nobody has been injured.

The alarm was raised when thick black smoke was seen coming from the second and third floors. The A770 Cloch Road has been closed.

An investigation will be carried out jointly by the service's specialist Fire Investigation Team and Strathclyde Police to determine the cause of the fire.
