Driver attempts to abduct woman
A motorist tried to drag a female pedestrian into his car as she walked through the Govanhill area of Glasgow, police have said.

The woman was walking along Jamieson Street at its junction with Cathcart Road on Tuesday evening when the driver of a BMW car asked her for directions.

As she approached the car, the driver opened his door and attempted to drag her inside.

The 29-year-old victim managed to fight off her attacker and scream for help.

The dark blue or black car, which had tinted windows and distinctive blue headlights and was being driven by an Asian man in his early 20s, then drove off at high speed towards Cathcart Road with the driver's door open.

Strathclyde Police said the incident happened at about 2115 GMT on Tuesday, and have appealed for witnesses.

Det Con Scott Brockie of Cathcart CID said: "This was a particularly frightening experience for the woman involved. Luckily she managed to fight off her attacker however the ordeal itself has left the victim badly shaken and in a state of shock."
