Closed ward to readmit patients
One of two hospital wards closed after three patients were diagnosed with suspected viral gastroenteritis is to readmit patients.

The ward at the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow had been closed since Saturday.

Meanwhile, four patients being treated for Clostridium difficile (C diff) in isolation at the hospital are no longer showing symptoms.

Two other patients with C diff remain in isolation, but are not said to be giving cause for concern.

C diff ranges from a mild diarrhoea to a very severe illness with ulceration and bleeding from the colon and, at worst, perforation of the intestine leading to peritonitis.
