stab scene general views
The boy was stabbed on his way back to school
A 15-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a stabbing near a school in the south of Glasgow.

Police are treating the incident, which occurred on Friday afternoon, as a "racially aggravated" attack.

The boy, who was said by police to be black, was heading to Holyrood school along a lane between Aikenhead Road and Polmadie Road when he was stabbed.

The attacker was described as white, about 19 years old, 6ft tall with a slim build.

He was wearing a black and white jumper and blue or black baseball cap during the attack at about 1400 BST.

The victim was taken to Glasgow Victoria Infirmary where his condition is described as stable.

Detective Sergeant Debbie Johnstone said: "This was an unprovoked attack on a young boy and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the attack to come forward.

"I believe the suspect may have ran onto Aikenhead Road and passing motorists or pedestrians may have seen something which could help us in this inquiry."
