Scottish Ballet has appealed to the public for their backing to help raise the final £1m needed to create its new home.
The new home of Scottish Ballet is due to open in 2009
The company has already begun work on a new £11m building at the Tramway performing arts centre in Glasgow.
It is currently based in a dilapidated Army drill hall in the West End of Glasgow.
The appeal was backed by BBC Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark, who said Scottish Ballet was a "national asset".
The new building, which is due to be completed in 2009, will feature three large rehearsal rooms and fitness areas.
