Woman in 'harrowing' rape ordeal
A 24-year-old woman has been raped by a man who had given her a lift in his car in Glasgow.

She met the man in the east end of the city at about 1845 BST on Friday and he drove her to an industrial unit on Seath Road, Rutherglen.

Police said the man asked the woman to get out of the car and took her to a secluded area where she was subjected to a "serious indecent assault".

Det Con Raymond Thomson said: "This was a harrowing ordeal for the woman."

He added: "I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the man and the woman enter the car in Charlotte Street or get out of the vehicle in Seath Road, which is just off Glasgow Road in Rutherglen, to come forward."

The man was described as white, aged 30 to 35, 6ft tall, with black hair and a local accent.

He was wearing a navy blue polo shirt with a yellow motif, dark trousers and a fluorescent vest top.

Following the attack, the woman made her way to Main Street in Rutherglen seeking assistance.
