Mr Devine's body was found after his dog aroused suspicions
|
A murder investigation has been launched into the death of a man whose dog stayed near his body in a Glasgow park for a number of days.
John Devine, 45, who was known as Jake, was found dead in bushes in Cowlairs Park, in the Saracen area, on 16 July.
It is thought Mr Devine may have lain dead for two to three days with his dog Chico staying nearby.
Police want to hear from anyone who saw Mr Devine or the Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross before the discovery.
The dog had been seen in the park over a number of days. It later returned home and was found by a neighbour.
Mr Devine's body was found by a member of the public who noticed the dog was no longer around and went to find out what had attracted its attention.

The last sighting of the victim, who lived alone in Gadshill Street, Royston, was at 1430 BST on 10 July at Parkhead Forge.
Det Insp John Kennedy, of Strathclyde Police, said officers were trying to establish Mr Devine's movements since then and were studying CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door inquiries.
"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen Mr Devine in the Saracen or Royston areas or who has any information regarding his movements to come forward, " he said.
"I would also appeal to dog walkers, who may have seen Mr Devine with his dog Chico, or the dog on its own in the park in the days leading up to the body being discovered to contact the police."
Anyone with information should contact Saracen police office on 014 532 3958 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
