Body recovered by fishing vessel

The body was hauled up in a net
A boat fishing in the Firth of Clyde has hauled up a body, police said.

The corpse was found in a trawler's net near Ailsa Craig off the Ayrshire coast on Tuesday evening.

After coastguards were alerted, the remains were taken to Campbeltown harbour and are now in a local mortuary awaiting further examination.

Police sources said the body was not headless and it is understood they have ruled out a link to the case of abducted accountant Andrew Ramsay.

He was taken from outside his home in Berryknowes Road, Cardonald, Glasgow, in February 2006.

His skull was found last month in the Firth of Clyde.
