Firefighters were called to the supermarket in Pollok
Police are investigating a malicious fire outside a supermarket in Pollok which spread to a gas main pipe leading to the store.

The fire at the Co-Op in Braidcraft Terrace started after a rubbish trolley was set alight at the side of the building about 1455 BST on Wednesday.

Surrounding shops were closed as firefighters erected a safety cordon around the area. No-one was injured.

Police are anxious to trace two youths seen at the store before the incident.

The fire, which caused considerable damage to the side of the store and a possible fracture to the gas mains pipe, was extinguished by fire fighters.

Det Sgt David Wagstaff of Strathclyde Police urged anyone with information to come forward.
