Level crossing victim identified
A man who was killed in an accident at a level crossing in Ayrshire has been named by police.

Robin David Watkins, 37, from the Symington area of Ayrshire, was driving a van which was hit by a train at the crossing in Gailes Road, Irvine.

The accident happened at about 0045 GMT on Friday.

The southbound train involved was empty at the time and Network Rail said there appeared to be no problems with the crossing's barriers or lights.

A Strathclyde Police spokesman said a report would be prepared for the procurator fiscal.
