Ayr emerges as global destination
Ayr - pic Undiscovered Scotland
Ayr's heritage was one of the key factors highlighted
Ayr has been identified as one of the world's hottest emerging holiday hotspots by a website.

The seaside town on the west coast of Scotland was placed third, behind Pamukkale in Turkey and Parga in Greece, in an online survey.

Tripadvisor, which carried out the survey, said the town could brace itself for a major influx of visitors.

A spokeswoman for VisitScotland said Ayr offered excellent hotels and restaurants, history and heritage.
