Glowing tribute amidst mourning

Angelika Kluk was due to resume her languages course in Poland

Students and teaching staff at Gdansk University in Poland are in "shock and mourning" after learning of the murder of Angelika Kluk in Glasgow.

Ms Kluk was due to resume her studies after a working holiday in Scotland.

Her body was found in St Patrick's Chapel in Anderston, five days after she was reported missing.

Languages lecturer Dr Hieronim Chojnacki said: "We're all very sad here. It's an absolute tragedy to lose someone who stood out so much."

Dr Chojnacki is the head of department in Scandinavian languages where Ms Kluk was studying Norwegian.

She was expected back at the university on Monday.

He added: "All the students and teaching staff are in shock and mourning.

"She was a highly promising student, extremely intelligent, very popular and a nice, kind, religious person.

"She had her whole life ahead of her. We are all in grief and our thoughts are with her family."

Detectives investigating Ms Kluk's murder have travelled to London to question the church's handyman.

Peter Tobin, 60, was one of the last people to see Ms Kluk alive.

He was arrested on an unrelated matter by Metropolitan Police on Saturday.
