WeeMees travel to North America

WeeWorld is a community of personalised digital identities
Internet users in the US and Canada can now use a personalised online identity called WeeMee after a Glasgow company signed a deal with AOL.

WeeWorld will include its WeeMees on AOL instant messenger - making it available to "several hundred million" users in North America and the UK.

The personalised digital identities are available in 39 countries and more than 10 million WeeMees exist.

It can be used on blogs, e-mail signatures and mobile phones.

Lauren Bigelow, general manager of North America WeeWorld, said: "We offer users creative means to extend their digital expressiveness and are motivated by the opportunities ahead."

WeeMee users can choose their body shape, skin colour, hair style, emotion, clothing, accessories, pets, pastimes, passions, pursuits, sports, backgrounds, moods, emotions and feelings.

Marcien Jenckes, vice-president and general manager of AOL instant messenger, said: "We believe that WeeMees will encourage users to have fun and use their WeeMee as a whole new means of self-expression."

WeeWorld already has global partnerships with organisations such as MSN, Vodafone and Motorola.
