Tsunami children's art displayed
Children on a beach in Sri Lanka
More than 400 pictures were offered to the exhibition
An exhibition of art work by children affected by the 2004 tsunami has gone on display in Glasgow.

A collection of 16 watercolour paintings are on display in the Tramway in the south side.

The fund-raising event came from an exhibition in Sri Lanka last month by Glasgow-based artist Nelum Arachige.

The exhibition is part of an appeal to raise £10,000 to provide accommodation and medicine for long-term sick children in tsunami affected areas.

Ms Arachige said: "We thought that maybe if we had a fund we might be able to help them because the government isn't helping them.

"That way hopefully they won't have to beg from people for help."

Culture Minister Patricia Ferguson said: "Projects such as this demonstrate that beauty can be found in the most fragile of environments."

The exhibition is hosted by Scotland's Buddhist Vihara.
