Baby girl had 'human bite marks'
Royal Alexandra Hospital
The baby is being treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley
A 17-week-old girl from Oban is receiving medical treatment for what is believed to be human bite marks, police have confirmed.

The alarm was raised after the baby was taken to hospital suffering from what family members thought was a rash.

After that was ruled out by staff, the child was transferred to a specialist unit at Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Police have launched an investigation to find out how the injuries occurred.

No information on the baby was being released, but Strathclyde Police said she was receiving treatment and their enquiries were at an early stage.

It is understood the baby will remain in hospital for the next few days.
