Four people have been remanded in custody in connection with the murder of a man in West Lothian.

Alan Hunter, 25, of Livingston, was found injured at a property in Townhead Gardens, Whitburn, on Thursday and died in hospital the following day.

Billy Black, 29, and Lawson Shaw, 32, of Harthill, appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court charged with murder.

Mr Black is also accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice and failure to appear at court.

Natasha Fraser, 21, of Whitburn, and Daniel Innes, 21, of Bathgate, were charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice and failure to appear at court.

The four accused made no plea or declaration during brief appearances in private before Sheriff Peter Hammond and were remanded in custody.

Another woman, Irene Black, 54, was arrested over the incident but released by prosecutors without appearing.

A Crown Office spokesman said: "We can confirm the procurator fiscal at Livingston received a report concerning a 54-year-old woman in connection with an incident in Whitburn on 22 April.

"This matter is under consideration by the procurator fiscal and the accused has been liberated in the mean time."

Lothian and Borders Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses in relation to the incident.
