Youth hurt after train collision

A teenager is being treated for serious head and leg injuries after being hit by a train in Edinburgh.

It is understood the 19-year-old was hit in an accident at the end of platform eight in Waverley Station at 0535 GMT on Thursday.

The Edinburgh to Aberdeen train, which hit him, was cancelled and trains were diverted to other platforms while an investigation was carried out.

Network Rail said some trains were delayed for a total of 82 minutes.
